Aimed at supporting individuals impacted by federal workforce reductions and government contracting changes, this is our take on WeWork - but at no cost and with free coffee! Come gather with others in community to network, share information/resources, and plan next steps.

A pioneer in the ethnic-rock genre of Israeli music, singer-songwriter Micha Biton released his critically-acclaimed Live album in November 2016. Biton's mesmerizing concert "From Sderot to Jerusalem" utilizes anecdotes and song to tell the famous story of his childhood as a refugee. In his career, Biton performs sold-out concerts in Israel's most popular venues and has traveled the world both solo and with his band.

That all changed on October 7, 2023, when, after 13 hours in his safe room with his wife and 4 children, he barely escaped with his family. He now lives as a refugee in Tel Aviv with his wife and three of his four children (one is married and living in Arad). His guitar was one of the only items that Biton took when he was quickly evacuated from his home in Moshav Netiv Ha'asara, a Gaza border community attacked

Are we really friends? This Shabbat, we're putting that question to the test. We've asked you to bring your friends, we've even asked you to bring your enemies–but now we want the ones in between. Invite your work buddies you've never seen outside the office, the friend-of-a-friend you've never hung out with solo, or that cool new person you're hoping to level up with. We'll share delicious food, lots of laughs, and maybe even forge some real-deal friendships. And to top it all off, we'll crown the best new friends as the official King(s) or Queen(s) of Shabbat!

It's bagels, lox, and friends, is any other information needed? Gluten free bagels will be available as well. Come for a laid back start to your Sunday morning.

After a wonderful Shabbat Shirah with our lay musician ensemble, we're keeping the music going! If you play an instrument and want to join us for fun, fellowship, and possible future opportunities to share music with the community, we'd love to have you. We will meet at the opening of the JXJ Festival for their screening of Bad Shabbos an entertaining, fast-paced comedy about a dysfunctional Jewish family Sabbat dinner gone terribly awry which won the top audience prize at the Tribeca Festival. We will head to the reception after the movie together!

We'll kick things off with awesome kids' activities–play-archery, kite flying, giant inflatable balls, and more–starting at 5:45 PM.

Then we'll gather around the bonfire for s'mores and a special outdoor Kabbalat Shabbat service at 6:30 PM, featuring Torah teachings from our incredible tenth grade class.

At 7:30 PM, we'll enjoy a cookout-style Shabbat dinner with kosher and veggie dogs and all the fixings (you bring the dairy-free, meat-free sides and desserts).

The event starts at 7:30pm where we will have singing and hanging out and we will have Israel education. At 9:05pm we will have Havdallah followed shortly by a Lag BaOmer bonfire.

Join photographer Willie Kunkel and personal stylist Kathleen Borschow for an evening of professional headshots and style guidance. This workshop will offer a supportive, judgment-free space where we'll explore personal style as both a professional asset and form of self-expression. We'll address challenges to finding new career paths, offer practical guidance for interview attire (virtual and in-person), and explore how your unique style can build confidence across all life situations.

Happy hour drinks will be provided and headshots will be offered throughout the event. Free to attend, but space is limited and registration is required. This event is geared towards those in the community who have been impacted by recent changes to the federal workforce.

This has been a difficult week for the entire Jewish community of DC and across the nation. We mourn the devastating loss of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, and our thoughts remain with their friends and loved ones. Thank you to our community for the outpouring of support and love for one another in this heartbreaking time.

The Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum was founded to share Jewish stories, build understanding, and encourage community dialogue. Recognizing how essential this work is, the Museum will reopen to the public tomorrow, Thursday, May 29, at noon.

We are committed to ensuring that our museum is a welcoming space for everyone.
