    A Pride party for all ages! Dance to live music courtesy of the Hill Havurah ensemble at 10:15 am, listen to the fabulous Jewish Drag Story Time at 12pm, and explore LGBTJews in the Federal City with our Family Guide or kid's scavenger hunt. Plus, drop in crafts and activities all day - design a Pride float, play games on the Museum terrace, create a colorful collage out of the Museum's collections, and write a supportive letter to queer and trans folks for Point of Pride, and more.

    Please note: Tickets for both adults and children are $5, but no family need pay more than $20. Please read follow instructions at the point of purchase to ensure you are not overcharged. Ticket includes complimentary access to our special exhibition, LGBTJews in the Federal City.

  • First Session of Beginner Mah Jongg with the Bender JCC

    Summer Season Dates:

    Mondays | July 14 - August 4 | $110/member | $120/Public

    Come have fun and learn to play American Mah Jongg, an exciting four-player tile game with Chinese origins. Using 152 tiles depicting Chinese characters and symbols, players pick and discard in turn to form combinations found on the National Mah Jongg League's annual card of hands. Strategy, skill and luck are needed to be the first player to complete a hand and declare ÒMah Jongg!' This 4-session class will be taught in person at the Bender JCC by Jamie Grauer.

    *Space limited to 8 participants per class.

    *You will need to purchase a Mah Jongg card prior for the class. Cards can be purchased here.

    Celebrate WorldPride DC 2025 at the Capital Jewish Museum after hours with the launch of our new special exhibition, LGBTJews in the Federal City. Discover stories of LGBTQ+ Jewish Washington with curator spotlight talks, enjoy drag performances, sip on a lavender gin and tonic, show your pride by making your own button, and get bedazzled with SparkleLynn Designs. Plus, a cash bar and food for purchase from Catalyst Hot Dogs Food Truck (vegetarian and vegan options available). Ticket includes admission to all exhibitions. Must be 21 or older to attend and present a valid ID at the door.

    Celebrate Tu B'Av, the Jewish festival of love, with a special candlelit Havdallah experience marking the end of Shabbat and the start of a new week. Often called the Israeli Valentine's Day, Tu B'Av is a time for connection, joy, and new beginnings. Guests will wear color-coded name badges to indicate whether they're single, taken, or open to connection, creating a welcoming and comfortable space for all. The evening will begin with light snacks and a short Havdalah service, followed by a candlelit dinner designed to spark conversation and community. Whether you come for the tradition, the company, or the ambiance, this is a night to gather, reflect, and celebrate love in all its forms.

  • Shabbat Clusters and Friends Mid-Season Mixer with the EDCJCC

    We're gathering all of our Shabbat Clusters members and friends for a mid-season hangout at Franklin Hall to celebrate the end of summer. We'll have camp-themed ice-breakers and activities to say farewell to summer. There will be separate spaces for those in their 20s and 30s/40s so you can hang with others your own age.

    Everyone is welcome, whether you are part of a Shabbat Cluster or not! Bring your friends to meet current participants and get to know our Cluster Coordinators, who will share more about the program.     Plus, a portion of proceeds go to Jews United for Justice - an inspiring local nonprofit truly doing the work that exemplifies progressive Jewish values: immigrant justice, housing justice, racial equity, and coalition-building.
