    LGBTJews in the Federal City explores a turbulent century of celebration, activism, and change in the nation's capital. This landmark exhibition is the first of its kind to explore DC history, Jewish history, and LGBTQ+ history together, drawing from the Museum's robust LGBTQ+ archive. Immerse yourself in historical and contemporary photography, artifacts, and oral histories. Learn about legal milestones, far-ranging protests, vibrant cultural life, and change in religious spaces.

    The exhibition will open in time for Washington, DC's observation of its 50th Capital Pride celebration and as the city hosts World Pride for the first time, offering an unprecedented opportunity to infuse Pride with local Jewish history.

    From flavorful foundations in his grandmother Miriam's kitchen to working in some of Israel's most renowned restaurants, Nissimmi's culinary journey is rooted in the traditions and flavors of the Jewish heritage, stories and memories. His work explores the central role food plays in shaping Jewish identity, using rich historic knowledge, Jewish texts, and of course, carbs.

Together with Rabbi Emmanuel, we'll enjoy the magic of Shabbat in community.     Join us for "Havdalah in Bloom: A Shavuot Celebration of Fruits and Flowers", where we'll close Shabbat together and welcome the joy of Shavuot. In ancient times, Shavuot was an agricultural festival celebrating the first fruits of the harvest in the Land of Israel. Meet at 6 pm at South Block in East Falls Church for a delicious fruit bowl or smoothie. Then, walk together around the corner to Benjamin Banneker Park for a serene Havdalah service. This community gathering is a perfect way to honor the themes of Shavuot! This event is buy your own food.

    The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC (GMCW) will be performing at the Capital Jewish Museum as part of their World Pride International Choral Festival. Join us on Sunday, June 1st at 1 pm, for a 45-minute pop-up concert in our lobby, featuring Potomac Fever (from GMCW) and Tonewall (from the NYC Gay Men's Chorus) singing Broadway, pop, and R&B. Admission is free to the public.
