Temple Emanuel hosts Joshua Maxey as Guest Speaker for our 2025 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Shabbat on Friday January 16. He will speak on “None of Us are Free Until All of Us Are Free: Intersectionality, Jewish Values, and the Ongoing Struggle for Justice.”

Joshua Maxey (he/him) is the Executive Director of Bet Mishpachah, DC’S LGBTQ+ synagogue. Josh has a passion for Tikkun Olam and working to create spaces of belonging within the Jewish community.

Josh is also a member of Washington Hebrew Congregation where he serves on the SEA Change Racial Equity Committee, board of directors and organizer of the Jews of affinity space.

Josh is also a member of the Board Community Leadership Council for the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington; Franciscan Mission Service; the Forward Association; and the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center.

Temple Emanuel has hosted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Shabbats since 1987.
