  • Introduction to Kabbalah with Jewish Study Center

    Kabbalah is a Jewish theology built on the premise that, although G-d is unknowable, we can experience spirituality by receiving the emanations from this unknowable source. The class will discuss what Kabbalah teaches about sin and repentance, Shabbat, weddings, funerals and mourning rituals.

    Jay McCrensky, PhD. is a leading Kabbalah scholar and past Jewish Study Center Board member. He is a former professor at University of Maryland's St Mary's College, and author of Understanding Evil and Ethics through Kabbalah and Connecting to Judaism: Spirituality through Kabbalah, both available on Amazon and from Professor McCrensky.at jay@contemporarykabbalah.org. He heads The Contemporary Kabbalah Institute, a non-profit center to promote contemporary kabbalistic spirituality as a path to Jewish spiritual revival.

    Experience an authentic Tu b'Shvat Seder and enjoy the live music of Machaya Klezmer Band, a leading Klezmer ensemble. Learn the basic concepts of Kabbalah and experience an authentic kabbalistic ritual modeled on the Passover Seder by the 16th century kabbalists lead by Isaac Luria.

    To participate in the Seder from home, start with bottles of white and of red wine (or grape juice). Also have a variety of fruits that you can find in the supermarket as listed on our website.

    In June 1954, Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) Chairman Lewis Strauss revoked the security clearance of Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer who had been the scientific leader of the Manhattan Project that developed the first atomic bombs.   • 1st Session of Interfaith Couples Workshop with Interfaith Families Project

    Our interfaith couples workshop is a four-part series for partners seeking to learn about life as an interfaith couple, celebrating both Jewish and Christian traditions. Participants might be dating, engaged, or married, with or without children.

    The workshop is led by IFFP's clergy, Rev. Samantha Gonzalez-Block, Reverend and Christian Spiritual Leader, Rabbi Debbie Reichmann, Rabbi and Jewish Spiritual Advisor, and Father Michael Kelly of St. Martin of Tours, in Washington, D.C.

    We are also honored to be joined by author and long-time IFFP member Susan Katz Miller, the author of Being Both: Embracing Two Religions in One Interfaith Family and The Interfaith Family Journal.
