    Join the EDCJCC for an all-levels, slow flow yoga class that blends mindful movement with breath-based transitions to create a grounding and accessible yoga experience. Designed for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike, the pace is unhurried – allowing time to explore alignment, deepen awareness, and build strength and flexibility without rushing. Let the stresses of the world go for one hour as you reconnect with your body, decompress, and move with intention.

  • Wellness Wednesday: Meditation, Yoga Style with the EDCJCC

    In these challenging times, one needs all the tools we can get to help manage our complicated lives. Consider meditation as one of those tools. There are many different types of meditation which serve many different goals. In this class, participants will explore Dharana, or One-Pointed Meditation, which, when practiced, will reduce stress, improve focus, and aid mental clarity by encouraging one to stay present.

    Learn briefly about the role of meditation in yoga and then try several one-pointed meditations, focusing on a single object such as the breath, a sacred image or image of a loved one, a sound, or a word or group of words, to name a few. We look forward to sharing this meditative exploration with you.

    Join the EDCJCC swim teachers for The World's Largest Swimming Lessonª, an event designed to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching kids to swim. Classes available for children and adults.

    The World's Largest Swimming Lessonª is a 45 minute lesson and promotional event designed to build awareness and generate local and national media attention about the vital importance of teaching kids to swim to help prevent drowning and improve quality of life. The WLSL event helps capture the passion we have for this critical issue as individuals and focuses all that energy on one message for one day.

    Talya Bock and Danielle Thibault, CFP¨ Wealth Management Advisors at Merrill Lynch, will be available for 10 minute complimentary personal finance conversations. They can provide guidance on a wide range of topics such as managing your personal budget in case of a career transition, portfolio strategies for turbulent markets, TSP choices, and how to navigate lifetime income in retirement.   • Jews Around the World Hamantaschen Making Class & Wine Tasting with EntryPointDC

    Spend an evening sipping and noshing on something sweet and savory just in time for Purim with EntryPointDC! We will learn how to make hamantaschen with themes featuring flavors that are inspired by Jews from around the world - think dulce de leche, ube jam, shakshuka, and more. We will also do a tzedakah project in honor of the holiday and help make mishloach manot baskets for local Holocaust survivors. Your ticket includes samples, snacks, and wine and flavored seltzer.

    About our instructor: Sara Meizlish led our sold out babka-making class this past December and has worked at The Sweet Lobby, Rare Sweets, and Village Sweet. She is the owner of White Wolf Bakeshop.

    The Queer Rosh Chodesh Group draws on the tradition of feminist Rosh Chodesh gatherings to explore the themes of the upcoming Jewish month through a queer lens. This gathering, led by Based-In DC's Rabbi Avigayil Halpern, will take place monthly on or before Rosh Chodesh, the first day of the Jewish month, and is open to all queer-identified Jews in their 20s and 30s. The Queer Rosh Chodesh Group is co-sponsored by Based-In DC and EntryPointDC and GLOE at the JCC. You can come to just one, come every month, or whenever suits your fancy!

    This month, we'll talk about the holiday of Tu Bishvat - Òthe new year for the trees' - and ways to connect to the Jewish calendar and year cycle - we'll also eat yummy fruit!
