Together, we will explore the exhibit ÒShifting Boundaries: Perspectives on American Landscapes’ at the National Museum of Asian Art Freer Gallery of Art. Through collaborative curatorial practice, in this exhibit, New England Òlandscapes become invitations to explore a century of human impact on New England land and water, the erasure of indigenous histories, and the environmental changes that are altering this region today.’ After we view the exhibit, we’ll study some related Jewish texts together, focusing on both the form of the exhibit (collaborative knowledge-building!) and the content (Jewish relationships to land and landscape)! All texts will be offered in the original translation, and no previous experience with text study – or art-viewing! – is necessary for this to be a great experience!
