Celebrate Pride: Learn and Serve with Friendship Place with the EDCJCC June 17, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Northern Virginia Jewish Funerals 8453 Tyco Rd Suite D, Vienna, Virginia, United States In Washington, D.C., nearly 40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+. In honor of World Pride, join the EDCJCC for an evening of learning and serving. Volunteers will hear from Friendship Place about their approach to ending homelessness in DC and the unique challenges LGBTQIA+ individuals face in accessing stable housing. Then volunteers will prepare nourishing snacks for the clients served by Friendship Place's drop-in center. We will provide a Kosher pizza dinner for participants. Please indicate any dietary restrictions in your registration, and note that we will be using tree nuts for this project. We request a registration fee of $8 per person to help offset the cost of supplies for this project. The workshop focuses on practical information while giving opportunities to share experiences and feelings of grief in a supportive and safe environment. __ September 16 Workshop Two will utilize the healing and creative process of Huichol yarn art, accessible to all skill levels, to process grief in a nonverbal way. There will also be small group conversations on mourning and healing as people work on their art. Childcare and a light dinner are provided with prior registration.
