Yom Ha'Zikaron, Israel's Memorial Day, is a time of profound reflection. We gather to honor fallen soldiers lost in service to Israel and the victims of terror, sharing in the collective sorrow of those left behind. Let's join together for an evening of remembrance as we listen to five poignant Israeli songs, each carrying a unique story of sacrifice and resilience. Through these melodies, we'll connect with the spirit of Yom Ha'Zikaron and find comfort in the shared experience. Light refreshments will be served.

  • Joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day with New Israel Fund and Tifereth Israel

St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church 1525 Newton St NW , United States

The Joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony, led by Combatants for Peace and The Parents Circle Families Forum in Israel/Palestine, is the largest Israeli-Palestinian jointly organized peace event in history. Now in its 20th year, the Joint Memorial is a beacon of hope in the darkness - a space for Israelis and Palestinians to defy the forces that seek to divide them, grieve together, and choose hope over despair.

Join us as we gather in solidarity to echo the message of our allies in Israel/Palestine. We will view videos from the main event*, hear from local Palestinian and Israeli speakers, and have an opportunity to reflect and connect in small-group settings.

    * The DC event will not be livestreamed. There's an option to view the main Israel/Palestine event online on April 29.

    Journalist/Producer

Join us for a powerful discussion with award-winning journalist and bestselling author Yardena Schwartz as she shares insights from her new book, Ghosts of a Holy War: The 1929 Massacre in Palestine That Ignited the Arab-Israeli Conflict.

Sparked by the discovery of a box of century-old letters in a Memphis attic, Schwartz uncovers the story of a young American Jew killed in the 1929 Hebron massacre–a little-known but pivotal moment that she argues is ground zero of the conflict still raging today. Drawing from deeply personal archival material, wide-ranging interviews, and decades of context, Schwartz weaves a gripping and even-handed narrative that connects the past to the present, shedding new light on the events of October 7, 2023, and the enduring struggle for peace in the land both Israelis and Palestinians call home.
