    Join Temple Rodef Shalom for our new series of 5 classes to prepare parents for bringing home baby, best for those around 6 or 7 months pregnant.

    Classes, led by TRS clergy and medical professionals, will cover essential newborn care topics and practical hands-on skills, including infant CPR, while also weaving in discussions on raising a Jewish family, navigating parenthood, and embracing Jewish rituals, all within a welcoming community setup to foster new friendships during this special time!   • First Session of Strengthen Your Steps: Jewish Guide to Ethical Living with WHC

    For generations, the Jewish practice of mussar has helped guide people to a greater understanding of who they are and, more importantly, who they can be. Every other week, we'll come together as a whole group to learn and share ways we can cultivate inner qualities like acceptance, generosity, forgiveness, and gratitude. During the Òoff weeks,' you will meet with assigned study partners to explore and discuss Jewish texts. Using Ruchi Koval's Soul Construction: Shape Your Character Using 8 Steps from the Timeless Jewish Practice of Mussar as the starting point, Rabbi Rachel Schmelkin leads this 10-week group through a series of practices to strengthen your ethical and spiritual self.

    The group will meet in person during Mondays@Macomb every other week, and in the off weeks will arrange for independent small group sessions on their own.

    Cost is $150 for WHC Members, $175 for Non-Members.

    Am Kolel asks for a donation of $90 for individuals and $150 for couples to it's programming fund in order to take this course. If you are on limited income or are otherwise unable to afford the class, Am Kolel offers scholarships.

    This five-week workshop meets on Wednesdays, October 29, November 5, 12, 19, and December 3 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm Additionally, Shabbat on Friday, November 21, at 7:00 pm is a requirement of the course.

    Rabbi Jenna leads an experiential introduction to Judaism course designed for those looking to reconnect with Judaism, as well as non-Jews looking to discover. This five-week course allows students to develop a deeper connection with the Jewish faith through a digestible, experiential introduction to Jewish traditions, customs, and rituals.

  • First Session of Interfaith Couples Workshop with Sixth & I

    This is a four-week discussion-based course designed for couples in their 20s and early 30s who do not yet have children. The workshop is held four to five times throughout the year. This cohort meets on Thursdays, October 30, November 6, 13, and 20 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Shabbat on Friday, November 21, is included in this workshop, with a complimentary ticket for our dinner service.

    Rabbi Jenna facilitates a guided, nonjudgmental space for Jews and their non-Jewish partners to talk, learn, and grow–together and as individuals. Each week the class discusses case studies, written by the couples, on a specific instance that the Jewish and non-Jewish partner felt raised questions in their relationship.

    Text studies and articles supplement the class. Couples should make time for an additional hour each week to discuss the case studies with their partners.
    Registration for this series closes Friday, October 24 at 5:00 pm.
