Hey DMV! Did you know that Good Deeds Week is coming up? Here’s some background on what exactly that means, and how you can get involved with GatherDC and the wider Jewish DMV.
What is Good Deeds Week?
Good Deeds Week (April 3rd – 10th) is an international volunteer week created to unite people around the world through service in the week leading up to Good Deeds Day (April 11th). Every year, the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington hosts Good Deeds Week; this year, the Federation is dedicating the week to helping fight food insecurity in our local community.
How can you get involved?
Jewish organizations around the DMV are hosting dozens of events and drives in support of fighting food insecurity–and GatherDC’s getting in on the action! Over the next couple weeks, GatherDC is collecting specific food donations in support of So Others May Eat (SOME).
Where are we collecting?
We’ve got a couple different options to donate! We will be collecting donations during our March Happy Hour at metrobar DC, or you can swing by the GatherDC townhouse Wednesday-Friday of Good Deeds Week (April 6th – 8th).
What kinds of items can you donate?
We are collecting dry goods, canned fruits and vegetables, canned tuna/salmon/chicken, canned soup (low sodium), whole wheat pasta, pasta sauce, oatmeal, and healthy snacks.
We are thrilled to participate in Good Deeds week this year and help our community! For more information and resources, check out Good Deeds Day and Good Deeds Week.
