How to Make Charoset for 1 (in 5 minutes)
by Rabbi Ilana Zietman / April 7, 2020
Ingredients
1/2 cup chopped dried/pitted dates
1/2 cup chopped dried figs
1/4 cup raisins
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves (you could use nutmeg or allspice if you don’t have cloves)
1/3 cup almonds (whole, chopped, sliced, doesn’t matter)
1/2 cup dry red wine (can sub grape juice for alcohol-free version)
1 tbsp honey (can sub agave for vegan version)
1 tbsp orange juice
Instructions
Chop all dried fruit finely.
Smash almonds in secure plastic bag with a hammer.
Bring wine and honey to a boil in a pot over medium-high heat, stir and lower heat.
Stir in dried fruit and spices.
Add almond bits, stir.
Add orange juice, stir all together.
Recipe adapted from Leah Koenig’s Modern Jewish Cooking.
