Noam Shapiro, NoVA Fellow

Noam (he/him) grew up in New York City and moved to NoVA in 2021. He is a theater director and producer, currently developing a new Filipino-American musical called On This Side of the World. Noam is also a climate organizer with Interfaith Power & Light and Dayenu, a college application counselor, and an active member of the Sixth & I community. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking in Virginia and Maryland, cooking, playing tennis, swimming, dancing at parties, and reading novels.

For his Capstone Project, Noam will be launching NoVA Minyan, a lay-led creative Shabbat experience hosted in NoVA. The gathering will bring together artists, musicians, and other creative folks for a meaningful Shabbat experience, where each lay leader will interpret and lead a select part of the Shabbat service. Through this project, he hopes to make meaning together through music, storytelling, and genuine connection in the place we call home: NoVA.
