Tracing Roots Across the Sea: Mastering Manifests & Naturalizations with JGSGW

Naturalization records and passenger ship manifests are the critical United States documents for discovering ancestral towns and connecting family history to ancestors “in the old country.” Genealogist Rhonda Miller will be demonstrating strategies for finding naturalization and passenger manifest records will be explored as well as understanding their content. Other unique aspects of Jewish genealogy will be presented, such as managing foreign languages, using online research tools, learning naming patterns, and understanding the impact of historical events.

This one-hour program, conducted over Zoom at 1:30 PM Eastern Time, is free for members. This is one of the many activities that is a benefit of JGSGW membership.

Rhoda Miller, Ed.D., CG®: Certified Genealogist since 1998, retired 2023, specializing in Jewish research and Holocaust studies. Rhoda is a Past President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island (JGSLI) and currently serves on the Liaison Committee of the International Association of Jewish Genealogy Societies (IAJGS). With JGSLI, she led the award-winning project of publishing Jewish Community of Long Island. She is a past board member of LitvakSIG and is currently the Coordinator for the Svencionys Research District. Rhoda retired as a Genealogist Researcher for Ancestry ProGenealogists
