As part of our new initiative, First Night Sephardic Holiday Dinner for young professionals, we invite you to celebrate the Exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt with a night of rich traditions.
Feel the sting of slavery (lightly!) with the Persian custom of playfully tapping friends with scallions during Dayenu, circle the Seder plate over each other’s heads following the Moroccan tradition during Bivhilu, and crack a boiled egg on your friend’s head before eating it, as done in the Yemenite custom during Shulchan-Orech.
It’s all about remembering how Hashem took us out of Egypt with great miracles and an outstretched arm—through food, meaningful traditions, and great company.
Schedule:
7:30 PM – Services
8:00 PM – Passover Seder
11:00 PM – Post-Seder celebration with stories about the Exodus
We can’t wait to celebrate with you—and to tap you on your head with a scallion during Dayenu!
Organization: Congregation Anshey Sfard
