August 27 marks Raoul Wallenberg Day, Sweden’s national day for equal rights and civil courage. Held on Raoul’s Òname day’ in the Swedish calendar, it is the first Swedish national day to honor a civilian, and an occasion that commemorates his extraordinary efforts during the Holocaust and the enduring legacy of his compassion and bravery.
To celebrate Raoul Wallenberg Day, join us for a special screening of Good Evening, Mr. Wallenberg, a powerful 1990 Swedish historical drama directed by Kjell Grede and starring acclaimed actor Stellan SkarsgŒrd. The film traces Wallenberg’s remarkable transformation from a businessman into a humanitarian hero. Using his diplomatic status, he forged protective passports and created safe houses, ultimately saving tens of thousands of Jews in Nazi-occupied Budapest. The film earned widespread acclaim in Sweden, winning multiple Guldbagge Awards, including Best Film and Best Director.
