Jewish Teachings on Death and Dying with Bet Mishpachah

December 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Rabbi Jake Singer-Beilin of Bet Mishpachah for a four-part series on Jewish resources and views on death and dying. Each class is a free-standing event. Join us for one or all.

Grief does not end with burial, and Judaism provides a structured, time-honored path through loss: shiva, sheloshim, the twelve months of mourning, and the ongoing practice of reciting Kaddish and observing yartzeit. This final class explores how these customs guide mourners gradually back into life while ensuring the deceased are never forgotten. We will also turn to a topic often left unspoken—Jewish views on the afterlife and the World to Come—examining the range of beliefs found throughout Jewish thought, from ancient texts to modern interpretations, and how these ideas offer comfort, meaning, and hope to those left behind.
