bell hooks, Buddhism, & Beloved Community: Valentine’s Day with Abrahamic House

February 8 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Abrahamic House is a multifaith co-living and co-creating space to learn, share, pray, celebrate, connect, and serve. We welcome individuals from all faiths to join us in sharing traditions and creating community.

As a Christian Buddhist, Black scholar, and love theorist, bell hooks teaches us what is means to be in better relationship with ourselves and the world.

While alive, bell hooks frequently quoted Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh saying, ÒLet’s throw this pebble into the water, it may not go far in the beginning, but it will ripple out.” That’s the power of a single loving act.

This Valentine’s Day, we’d like to invite you to throw pebbles into the water with us. Come join us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST on Saturday, February 8, to make cards for the friends, family members, and loved ones who remind you that healing is always an act of communion.

We will be celebrating bell hooks’ legacy through sharing excerpts of her work and engaging in what hook’s referred to
