    Step into the High Holidays with intention. The Jewish month of Elul invites us to slow down and turn inward. This allows us to gently open ourselves to an emotion we often avoid: grief. We are given the spiritual space to sit with grief to experience healthy mourning and comfort.

    ___ September 9 Workshop One will dive into resources to explore the sacred tasks of caring for mourners and end-of-life journeys. The workshop focuses on practical information while giving opportunities to share experiences and feelings of grief in a supportive and safe environment.

    __ September 16 Workshop Two will utilize the healing and creative process of Huichol yarn art, accessible to all skill levels, to process grief in a nonverbal way. There will also be small group conversations on mourning and healing as people work on their art.

    Childcare and a light dinner are provided with prior registration. Attend one or both sessions–each stands on its own while building on shared themes.

Rooted in the power of community, this gathering will provide space for connection in community as well as personal growth and learning. Participants will leave feeling renewed, grounded, and ready to step into the new year with clarity and intention.

    Our full day (beginning with prayer experiences at 9 am) includes breakfast and lunch, text learning, embodied spiritual practice and special musical experiences, focused on the High Holy Day season and preparing ourselves for renewal. Participants will get a chance to select numerous sessions including: Text Study, Acupuncture, Meditation, and Yoga.

  • Somatic Musical Tashlich Experience and Creek Cleanup with Mayim Chayim

    We will begin with a creek cleanup to thank the earth for sustaining us through this year. We will then engage in a somatic ritual combining Jewish tashlich, yoga, dance and Qigong elements to spiritually let go of what we do not wish to bring into the new year through guided movement. Next, the incredibly talented Hasan Bhatti will lead us in a musical mincha. Hasan is a seasoned song leader whose original work is featured in the Let My People Sing songbook. This grounding ritual experience will vitalize your senses, introduce you to great people and prepare you for Yom Kippur.

    Join Rabbi Shankman and Cantor Bortnick for Living Mindfully, a six-week journey into cultivating awareness through a Jewish lens. Together, we will explore how listening, thought, word, and deed reflect and shape the fullness of who we are. Drawing on Jewish texts, soulful chant, and accessible mindfulness practices, each class invites you to notice, awaken, and align your inner and outer lives with greater intention.
