    The Mothers' Call, created from the partnership between Palestinian and Israeli Women-led peace movements, Women of the Sun (Palestinian) and Women Wage Peace (Israeli- WWP), is a call for peace on behalf of the mothers who are tired of the endless cycle of war in the Middle East.

    This national campaign (sponsored by Women Wage Peace) seeks to increase awareness of peaceful options to the violence and bloodshed in Israel.

    Nissimmi is a chef, ordained rabbi, international educator and speaker, who combines his love of food and people with his commitment to building connections between culture, Jewish identity, and tradition.

    From flavorful foundations in his grandmother Miriam's kitchen to working in some of Israel's most renowned restaurants, Nissimmi's culinary journey is rooted in the traditions and flavors of the Jewish heritage, stories and memories. His work explores the central role food plays in shaping Jewish identity, using rich historic knowledge, Jewish texts, and of course, carbs.

    Learn about over 2,600 years of Iraqi Jewish life and remember the Farhud at a memorial led by SHIN DC Board Member Maurice Shohet who also represents the World Organization of Jews from Iraq and is the keynote speaker.

    The Farhud is an outbreak of antisemitic mob violence against Baghdad Jewry that erupted on June 1, 1941 during the Shavuot holiday.

    In memory of Shlomo Mantzur who escaped the antisemitic, 1941 Iraqi Farhud massacre and emigrated to Israel, only to face another pogrom 82 years later in the Jewish state on October 7.
