    Kick off the day at 10am with Drew Blue Shoes' magical performance! Bring brand-new pajamas for children of all ages to donate, and enjoy a pizza lunch while helping sort the pajamas & writing cards for distribution to children in need.

    For Adults, Teens, and Tweens:
    At 11am, choose between two impactful service projects:
    Build garden boxes for our new community garden, helping provide fresh produce to those in need.

The evening will feature a screening of Left Alone Rhapsody, a documentary about pianist and composer John Bayless, who, after a life-altering stroke, reinvents himself as a one-handed musician and storyteller.

    Following the film, engage in a thought-provoking discussion on how individuals with disabilities are reshaping the arts and pushing creative boundaries. This event celebrates the resilience and innovation of artists who prove that disability is not a limitation but a powerful tool for unique expression.

Learn about the roots of the problem, misconceptions about people experiencing homelessness, and the path forward to eradicating this issue. Then, join the discussion and learn ways to take action and address the issue over dessert. Panelists include James Davis, Member of National Coalition for the Homeless Faces of Homelessness Speakers Bureau, Lara Pukatch, Chief Advocacy Officer, Miriam's Kitchen, and Amber W. Harding, Executive Director, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless. Moderated by Rabbi Atara Cohen, Director of Jewish Life and Learning, Edlavitch DCJCC.     Please join NewGen for a Tu Bishvat seder and fundraiser dedicated to Planting Justice, a tree-planting initiative by Rabbis for Human Rights and the New Israel Fund that supports Israelis and Palestinians working together for human rights, justice and peace in the West Bank and unrecognized Bedouin villages of the Negev.

    We will gather to mark the holiday by engaging in a Tu Bishvat seder, celebrating the New Year for Trees with delicious fruits, wine, and reflections on our connection to nature, community, and sustainability.

    All proceeds from ticket sales and day-of donations will go toward the Planting Justice campaign.

    The Haberman Institute is honored to welcome the volunteers behind the Shiloni Project, back to our community. This grassroots organization was formed immediately after October 7, 2023, by volunteers initially committed to supporting soldiers and evacuees. We invite you to learn how the Project has evolved to focus on the needs of hostage families–parents, siblings, children, and spouses–some of whom have returned, while others remain in captivity.

    Today, the Shiloni Project has developed a thoughtful, grassroots effort to support these families who have faced an unimaginable reality. These families have devoted themselves entirely to fighting for their loved ones, postponing their own healing after experiencing profound loss. While some continue the fight, others are just beginning their long journey of recovery.

    Help replenish the blood supply in the DC metro area!

    It's safe, easy, confidential, and extremely rewarding. The EDCJCC partners with Inova Blood Services to bring skilled technicians and top-of-the-line equipment for our quarterly blood drives.

    A few facts about donating blood:

    -One blood donation can save four lives
    -All donations stay in the Washington, DC area
    -Every 17 seconds, someone in the DC area needs a blood donation
    -One out of 10 people will need a donation before the age of 70
    -The body quickly replaces the amount of blood given during the donation

    For more information, please see the eligibility requirements for donating. Please plan on your blood donation to take about an hour from start to finish.
