What do a Laotian born refugee, an Indian culinary creator, a trans improv artist, a Jewpanese podcaster, and a Latinx storyteller have in common? They are all Jewish, and their unique journeys are part of Hyphen, a gorgeous comics anthology showcasing extraordinary stories of everyday people. Each story is told in the contributor’s own words and brought to life by international artists, weaving together ancient traditions, modern journeys, and deeply personal experiences.
The Jewish people today are more diverse than ever in our history. At the heart of Hyphen is the belief that Jewish identity is not one-size-fits-all. By empowering contributors to tell their own stories, Hyphen is a powerful celebration of what it means to be Jewish today —amplifying voices that have too often been overlooked.
Join us for mimosas, bagels, and rich conversation with the book’s creators and two featured storytellers. We’re thrilled to welcome Dubbs Weinblatt, Eddna Samuel, Fabrice Sapolsky and Julian Voloj in conversation with Chess Jakobs to share queer, trans, Indian, Algerian, and Colombian Jewish stories on our stage.
