Who are we? We are an egalitarian community of Jews committed to the continuity of the Jewish people and Jewish traditional observance as a guide to full participation in American society and the modern world. We strive for spiritual growth through prayer, Torah study, and observance of Mitzvot. We welcome members with diverse needs and interests and benefit from the expertise and talent of both the women and men of Kol Shalom.
We take personal responsibility for Tikkun Olam (repair and improvement of our world) through our individual paths of halakha (traditional ethical and ritual guide for thought and action), family life, and social action to help others. We value our community and look for ways to reach out to other members of the community to share joy and sorrow, mark lifecycle events, and help in times of need.
What do we offer 20s and 30s? We offer Tikkun Talks, Jewish Visionaries changing the World, a monthly talk where Kol Shalom members share insight drawing from their expertise, wisdom, and the world beyond in a “Ted Talk” style event; Hands on learning experiences with Rabbi Fabian Werbin and Hazzan Heckelman; Monthly, Shabbat Live joyous Kabbalat Shabbat evening services open to all ages led by Hazzan Sally Heckelman and the Kol Shalom Band (stay tuned for our Congregational dinners); and our monthly, Women’s Rosh Chodesh Group is an opportunity to connect with one another as we explore meaningful, interesting content that is unique to women of all ages. Our meetings will be in-person and on zoom. Our sessions will be mixed with stimulating discussions exploring life’s stages from a spiritual perspective, and activities reflecting the month of the new moon. We look forward to welcoming returning as well as new group members to the incoming RCG season.
