JUFJ offers internship opportunities to motivated individuals with a passion for social change work in the region. This intern program is designed to immerse its participants in the organizing and non-profit field. Assignments vary and are designed to both support the organization with its mission to support action on social, racial, and economic justice work in the region and assist the intern in their professional growth. This non-exempt position allows interaction within the organization to provide a wide breadth of experiences, and will report to JUFJ's Virginia Lead Organizer. Our Virginia summer internship will support JUFJ's work building a brand new branch of the organization in Virginia, focused on Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax

JUFJ advances economic, racial, and social justice in the Washington, DC and Maryland region by educating and mobilizing our local Jewish communities to action.

Job Responsibilities
- Support JUFJ’s issue-based campaigns, base-building, leadership development, educational programs, and other organizing work by providing administrative, research, logistical, and other types of support.

-Assist with data work, including uploading, tracking, and cleaning data in our data management platform, EveryAction, as well as learning to pull that data to answer strategy and research questions from the team.

-Collaborate with communications staff to support regular communications with our community and the maintenance of JUFJ’s social media and web presence.

-Engage in special projects, as needed by the Organizing Team.

-Be excited about or comfortable with making cold calls to strangers - we're trying to build a base!

-Have an orientation towards flexibility and adaptibility

Logistics
The internship will take place during the 9AM – 5PM work week, with occasional evening or Sunday work as available. The total number of hours can vary week to week, and will be coordinated between the student and supervisor, but may be as many as 10-20 hours during particularly busy weeks. The internship is capped at 75 hours total. Interns will be paid a stipend of $1,500 per semester. Start dates and weekly schedules are flexible and will be coordinated with the intern and supervisor. Interns may choose to participate in an additional internship semester with approval of their supervisor/internship coordinator.

Location: This position is based out of JUFJ’s Washington, DC or Baltimore, MD office.

At this time, JUFJ staff are operating partially remotely. Interns may choose to voluntarily work from JUFJ’s offices in DC.
