Kol Ami, a small but growing Reconstructionist congregation in Northern Virginia, is searching for up to 3 teachers for our Jewish Children’s Educational Program (JCEP) which serves about 20 children between the ages of 6-12 years. JCEP meets in person on Sunday afternoons from 4:30-6:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington (UUCA) located at 4444 Arlington Blvd in Arlington, Virginia. The JCEP curriculum is typically divided into two segments: (1) Hebrew and tefilah/prayer, and (2) Judaic subjects such as ethics, Torah, history, culture, and Jewish holidays. Children are grouped into small classes based on age and abilities, as follows: Ages 6-8 (1st - 2nd grade) Ages 8-10 (3rd - 4th grade) Ages 10-13 (5th - 7th grade)
Ideal candidates are qualified to teach Judaic studies and Hebrew to a small group of students coming in with a wide range of knowledge. Hourly rate will be commensurate with education and experience, up to $100 per hour of teaching time.
