Position Overview
Federation’s Digital Marketing & Communications Associate is an essential member of our Marketing & Communications team, with the technical skills to manage our digital platforms and experience creating social media content for nonprofits or other organizations. Their work will elevate our community’s understanding and appreciation of Federation’s work and keep users of all ages engaging with our brand.

The Jewish Federation professional team is mission-driven and committed to helping every member of Greater Washington’s Jewish community connect with purpose, at a time when maintaining those connections is more important than ever before. The Digital Marketing & Communications Associate is a key driver of this work.

This position is responsible for:

Ensuring Federation websites are well-maintained, interesting, and relevant
Concepting and implementing multi-channel content, including copywriting and email design, website content/blog posts, and social media posts and ads, in partnership with Federation’s Digital Marketing Manager, Communications Strategist, and other team members
Editing and producing Federation e-newsletters
Working with the graphic design team to develop eye-catching static, GIF, and video content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin,, email, and other digital/social media platforms
Attending in-person events to post real-time social media updates
Developing and distributing digital marketing/social media toolkits for internal and external partners
Monitoring and evaluating digital marketing and advertising campaign results, pivoting as needed to ensure successful outcomes
Collaborating as part of cross-functional teams on fundraising and marketing campaigns, including efforts focused on the Annual Campaign, Giving Week, Giving Tuesday, and Jewish holidays

Across all projects, the Digital Marketing & Communications Associate’s successful efforts will grab — and hold—the attention of key stakeholders, including donors, lay leaders, and Jewish communal professionals.

Leading candidates will have a proven ability to create engaging content across multiple platforms in collaboration with colleagues, with a background in online content development, copywriting, and/or digital marketing.

Qualifications and Experience

1-3 years’ work experience in marketing, communications, social media management, or similar field
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or related field
Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and project management skills
Proactive, efficient, and able to multi-task
Portfolio of engaging, original content developed for digital and social media, including videos, email campaigns, Instagram reels and stories, and more
Ability to translate data into compelling messaging
Experience/familiarity with email marketing software such as Emma or MailChimp
Comfortable with or willing to learn data segmentation to target email and/or social media campaigns to specific audiences
Working knowledge of HTML a plus
Familiarity with and ability to infuse Jewish culture, values, traditions, and history into your work
Desire to contribute in a meaningful way to a growing, thriving non-profit
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or related field

Candidates should be located in or willing to relocate to the Greater Washington (DC, MD, and Northern VA) region. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with 2-3 days a week required in the office. The health and safety of our professional team and community remains a top priority, and all Federation employees are required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.
