Health + Safety Protocols for In-Person Experiences

by GatherDC Staff / May 20, 2021

As of May 2021 (please continue to check back from updates)

Just like you, we are SO READY to gather together IRL again. And, just like you, we’re a little nervous because after a year and change of this strange virtual reality, we have a lot of questions. Do we just go back to normal? How do we handle our anxiety about this virus, our health, our neighbor’s health? How do we have a conversation again? Where is my hand sanitizer?

GatherDC recognizes that our comfort levels about meeting in-person again vary dramatically, and wants to err on the side of caution. We are determined to do everything we can to protect your health and the health of the broader community, while still providing the opportunity to get together IRL. The following are our current guidelines for GatherDC in-person experiences. These protocols will continue to change as the science does.

Requirements for Participation

  • Advance registration is required. You must sign up for any GatherDC experience you are planning to attend in advance. There will be no walk-ups.
  • Participants must notify a GatherDC team member in advance of the experience if they are experiencing or have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • Participants must notify a GatherDC team member in advance of the experience if they have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • Participants must knowingly assume the risk of possible exposure to the coronavirus (or other public health risk) by attending an in-person experience, and release GatherDC, its board, and employees from any and all liabilities.

In-Person Gathering Health and Safety Protocols

  • All in-person gatherings will be held outdoors for the time being.
  • All in-person gatherings will be capped at 10 participants, unless noted in advance.
  • GatherDC will provide individual food/drink when noted in advance. Participants can bring their own food and/or drink for themselves if they wish.
  • All participants must practice physical distancing and sit / stand 6+ feet apart.
  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available, and required upon entry.
  • Any materials handed out to participants will be thoroughly sanitized.
