Do You Maybe Need a Loan to Help Navigate the Pandemic?

by Rachel Kriegsman / September 16, 2020

No doubt, we are living through hard times. The coronavirus recession has thrown millions out of work and made it hard to meet basic expenses. You, too, might be in that situation, and at a loss. Do you maybe need a little extra money to help get you through, but don’t really want to ask family or friends? Or can’t? The Hebrew Free Loan Association of Greater Washington is now offering interest-free loans of up to $2,500 that can be paid back in monthly installments of only $100 a month. (Much larger loans are possible if you’re in need.)

Now, one asks, what’s the catch? Well, there isn’t one. This is a truly interest-free loan with no hidden fees; you will never be asked to put up collateral nor provide a guarantor, and only the original loan amount will ever have to be repaid. The loan will not impact your credit score. In fact, your credit score is not even considered in granting a loan. The loan can be used to cover a broad variety of expenses related to the pandemic crisis (including, but not limited to! the loss of a job!). You need not have contracted the virus yourself. And, it’s for all Jews, even those who consider themselves only Jew-“ish!” Could this be you?

The process is straightforward

You can apply right now, quickly and easily, using this application formOnce approved, the money will be disbursed within 1-3 business days. It’s that simple. We’ve got you!

We know money issues can feel weird, but there’s nothing to be embarrassed about and certainly nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, loans are an especially dignified way of receiving help – and there’s plenty of money for the next person. When people pay back their loans – and almost everyone does – we maintain so much more money to loan to others.

Maybe you’re not even asking for a loan so much as we’re asking you. Tell the truth: Could you use a loan right now? If so, consider applying today. And if you think a friend or relative could use a loan, please tell them, too. We want to help. It’s what we do.

More about the Hebrew Free Loan Association of Greater Washington

HFLAGW is a nonprofit charitable organization that is part of a centuries-long tradition of Jews extending credit to each other at no interest, in recognition of our duties to our community members. HFLAGW has a more than 100-year-old history in the DC metro area and is aware that its work is vital more now than ever. We stepped into the breach to help those in need, when the federal government shut down last year and many civil servants were temporarily out of a job. And we’ll be here for our community’s needs in the future, too.  If you’re in a position to donate rather than borrow, please click here.
