DESCRIPTION:Bring your friends\, bring your families\, bring your instruments\, and bring your voices to join the East Bay community for Sacred Music Fellowship’s 2nd annual Lag BaOmer jam and bonfire. \nLag BaOmer\, the 33rd day of the Omer\, is associated with Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai\, both of whom brought illumination to the Jewish people through their enlightened teachings. Many have the tradition to make a bonfire and sing on this day.  \nOur intention for Lag BaOmer is to be a light to the world through our joyous song. Music leaders from across the East Bay Jewish community will lead us in songs of hope\, peace\, and joy. \nIf you play an instrument\, please bring your own music stand\, if you need one. Each session is crafted to correspond with the new Hebrew month\, with texts and colors that symbolize the essence of the time. \nOur tradition suggests that each month holds a potential to work with different life issues—such as sleep\, anger\, eating\, sight\, and listening. We will explore these themes through text learning\, creative writing\, singing\, and sometimes working with flowers and Jewish traditional color theory. \nOur sessions will be held when the moon is absent\, opening us up to the possibilities of the new moon coming our way. Even when the world seems to turn upside down and fall apart\, the moon keeps going in circles\, and we will be with her.
