DESCRIPTION:Explore the history behind iconic songs that fueled movements for civil rights\, peace and equality. \nFrom folk anthems to protest ballads\, hear how artists around the Jewish world used their voices and lyrics to spark change and empower communities with messages that live forever. \nCaron Dale and musicians performingLOX & VODKA is the Washington based\, widely acclaimed klezmer-Jewish band offering an enchanting\, entertaining and emotionally enriching ethnic experience. LOX & VODKA performs lively and spirit filled music where audiences can expect to be active participants\, learning songs in foreign languages and clapping to Klezmer rhythms.  Their hora (circle dance) is always action-packed and\, when they teach an audience full of enthusiastic listeners to folk dance\, the atmosphere is electric! \nHumor is an essential element in their concerts.  From joy and laughter to pulling on the audience’s heartstrings and collective emotional energy\, there is a story to be told and they tell it in a way no other band does!   \nKlezmer music\, which the band defines as Jewish soul music\, has been in existence since the Middle Ages when klezmorim (itinerant musicians) would travel from shtetl (village) to shtetl to play for Jewish weddings and other celebrations. As they traveled\, the musicians adopted a wide range of musical idioms. In turn-of-the-century America\, the klezmorim quickly mastered new instruments and styles.  Today we have seen a revival of this spiritually endowed musical form. The progressive Jewish community could really use a laugh about now\, and the Just Kidding Comedy Collective is delighted to deliver with this incredible lineup of local Jewish comedians! Don’t miss Dana Fleitman\, Carmiya Weinraub\, Alex Barbag\, Stacey Axler\, Joey Friedman\, and more special guests. \nPlus\, a portion of proceeds go to Jews United for Justice – an inspiring local nonprofit truly doing the work that exemplifies progressive Jewish values: immigrant justice\, housing justice\, racial equity\, and coalition-building. \nTLDR: We do NOT WANT deportations\, fascism\, or war.
