Ohr Kodesh Congregation is seeking an energetic experienced youth group adviser to plan and implement our Bonim and Machar youth groups for the 2019-2020 school year.
Bonim provides a warm introduction to Jewish youth groups for children in Kindergarten to 2nd grade. Bonim offers extracurricular activities at Ohr Kodesh like cooking, arts and crafts, games, and movie days. Each event strives to incorporate Jewish values and community building. Bonim has 4 stand-alone events and 4 joint events with the Machar Youth Group throughout the year.
Machar is for children in grades 3-5. In Machar, participants will continue to build relationships with each other and the Ohr Kodesh community while also participating in tzedakah and chesed projects. While some events are onsite at Ohr Kodesh, some events throughout the year will venture off site as well. Machar has 4 stand-alone events and 4 joint events with the Bonim Youth Group throughout the year.
Bonim and Machar events run from approximately September to June.
This position requires 10 hours a month from August 15th – June 30th.
1. Membership Recruitment, Engagement, and Retention
a. Contact OKC Bonim and Machar members and their parents via phone or email after they join, to welcome them to the youth group(s). Keep a record of the communication on Google Docs that is shared with the Director of Youth and Family Programming.
b. Follow up with members and parents after they attend events sharing a recap, pictures from the event, and inviting Bonim/Macharniks to the next chapter event.
c. Throughout the year, contact OKC members with age appropriate children that have not joined Bonim and/or Machar to try and engage them.
2. Event Planning and Coordination
a. Plan and implement at least one Bonim and/or Machar chapter events per month from September to June. Send all plans to the Director of Youth and Family Programming for final approval.
i. Complete and submit room set-ups for each event on site.
ii. Create and send out all promotional material to Bonim and/or Machar families in a timely manner.
b. Find suitable replacement staff if you cannot attend an event. If more staff is needed for an event, notify the Director of Youth and Family Programming.
c. Arrange transportation or carpools to and from events if necessary.
d. Keeping accurate records of RSVPs, attendees, and payments. Collect fees at events if necessary.
e. Keep all receipts for expenses, submit reimbursements, and give collected money to Director of Youth and Family Programming within three business days of event.
f. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start of each event and stay until all youth have been picked up and event space has been cleaned.
g. Follow up with Director of Youth and Family Programming within 48 hours of event.
a. Communicate weekly with the Director of Youth and Family Programming and meet once a month for an hour at a mutually agreeable time via in person, skype or by phone if necessary.
