Society of Young Jewish Professionals (SYJP), proud sponsor of the Matzoball ® , is hiring P/T (flex hours) Chapter Directors for Washington, DC

Do you consider yourself a go-getter? Organized? The Life of the Party (and also the Party Planner?) Are you well connected to your city’s Jewish community? Have you managed or promoted large-scale events before? Then we want to hear from you!!!

Society of Young Jewish Professionals (SYJP), founded in 1987, is the brainchild of one man’s longing to bring Jewish people together (and bring a nice Jewish girl along the way!) Now rapidly expanding, SYJP is rolling out a new social concept. We need high energy chapter directors with a desire to make an impact by connecting young Jewish professionals within their community. Chapter directors will be working directly with the National Director to:

Identify, recommend, and book venues. You will work closely with the management of these venues to create a blueprint for successful events. This includes visiting different venues (bars, restaurants, clubs, etc), negotiating contracts, preparing and working with a budget, and acting as the “eyes and ears” of the National Director. It is imperative that you know your city’s pulse and can lead SYJP in the right direction.

Be the face of SYJP in your city and at events—must have a strong online presence and willingness to promote SYJP through different channels.

Reach out to and develop relationships with local Sponsors and vendors; obtain items/services for raffles & giveaways and/or gift bags for event attendees.

Creativity and a willingness to develop new events for your city’s SYJP chapter.

Must be available to work the events, devote time to meeting with venue staff, event staff, and National Director. Although this is a part-time position and the hours will ebb and flow, you must be able to dedicate more hours/week when we have an upcoming event.

Experience in event planning, marketing, communications, public relations
Great interpersonal skills both in person and by phone
Strong, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Strong leader and motivator
Willingness to learn on the fly
Creative approach to problem solving
Social media experience absolutely necessary for this position


$20 per hour with a min of 20 hours per month. + bonus on event production
