Who are we? Bet Mishpachah is Washington DC’s Egalitarian Synagogue Embracing a Diversity of Sexual and Gender Identities, founded in 1975 by members of DC’s LGBTQ+ community.

What do we offer 20s and 30s? We join together for weekly Shabbat services, educational events, social action/social justice community service, and holidays – affirming our religious and cultural heritage, and integrating our LGBTQ+ and Jewish identities. Additionally, Rabbi Jake Singer-Beilin, the spiritual leader of Bet Mishpachah, is available for life cycle events, pastoral care, spiritual guidance and study groups. Since its founding, Bet Mishpachah has served as a home for the LGBTQ+ Jewish community, with Shabbat services every Friday at 8 pm and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 10 am, at the EDCJCC. We hope you’ll join us!

From our musical Mizmor Shabbat services to a chance for inter-generational friendships, Bet Mishpachah offers a unique community where everyone is welcome to come as they are. If you prefer a more traditional Shabbat service, seek out our Saturday morning Shabbat services. If you’re looking to spend time learning, attend Rabbi Jake’s Spring and Fall Classes, or our Spring Shabbaton. If social justice is your focus, get involved with our Social Action/Social Justice committee.
