DESCRIPTION:Author Ross Berkoff joins us to discuss his new book Beyond the Outpost: An Army Cavalry Officer’s War Diary on the Frontlines of Afghanistan\, 2003 – 2007. \nIn 2003\, Army Cavalry Officer\, 2nd Lieutenant Ross Berkoff\, led his Scout Platoon from the 10th Mountain Division on more than 10\,000 miles of reconnaissance missions over a nine-month period across the dangerous southern provinces of Kandahar and Helmand—the birthplace of the Taliban. After his transition to Military Intelligence\, Captain Berkoff returned to Afghanistan in 2006\, once again assigned to the 10th Mountain Division’s Light Cavalry. This time\, the Taliban insurgency had escalated in sophistication\, with deadly effectiveness. Join us at the museum anytime between noon and 4 to put together care packages for hospitalized veterans. \nWe’ll start the day with a moment of silence as we join National Tribute Ceremony at 11:11 AM. \nSupport the program by purchasing items from our Amazon Wish List. \nWhat to bring: \nToiletries (toothbrushes\, toothpaste\, disposable razors\, sample size cans of shaving cream\, deodorants/antiperspirants\, lip balm\, hand lotion\, etc..)\nSocks (must be NEW packaged)\, slippers (store bought non-skid only)\, underwear (must be NEW packaged)\, warm hats\, sizes for both men and women\nGames\, puzzles (complete with all pieces if pre-owned)\nBooks\, including large print\, (must be very clean\, in good condition)\nCan’t bring anything?
