SUMMARY:Whys & Hows of Kosher for Passover at Base Bay
DESCRIPTION:What does it actually mean to keep kosher for passover? Learn the tachles/the actionable details — what are the range of things people mean when they say “I keep kosher for passover”? How do you make kitchen utensil kosher? What do people refrain from eating? And why is all of it such a big deal? \nWe’ll start with about 30 minutes of study & discussion\, and then get to work learning-through-doing by literally kashering the Base kitchen. There will be music and nosh and space to wonder any wondering you’ve ever wondered about keeping kosher for Passover. \nWe understand access as an ongoing process & conversation; we’re excited to work with our community to be maximally welcoming. \nCovid: Please take a rapid test before coming! We’ll have a few on hand if you forget or don’t have access to one. This event will be inside; masking TBD by those who register. In addition\, we’ll have air-filters running.\nThere are about 6 steps into our house. Thanks for your patience as we work to make our house more physically accessible.\nWe minimize the use of scents in our house and ask that you do the same when visiting.\nFood: Our kitchen is ingredient-kosher\, meaning everything that comes in is kosher but not necessarily hekshered except for meat\, which must be hekchered. If you require hekshered food or have other dietary restrictions\, please indicate that on your registration. We’re committed to making sure you have something to eat and may reach out if we have questions about how to best do that. \n \n \nOrganization: Base Bay

SUMMARY:Base Midrash: Community Care
DESCRIPTION:What does it look like to create structures\, ritual\, and accountability around community care? \nA teaching so central it’s made it into daily prayer reads: \nThese are deeds\, the fruits of which one enjoys in this world\, and whose impact is felt in the World-to-Come. They are: honoring father and mother\, deeds of kindness\, early attendance in the House of Study morning and evening\, welcoming guests\, visiting the sick\, celebrating a wedding\, accompanying the dead\, investigating the meaning of prayers\, and making peace between fellow humans — and the study of Torah is equal to them all. \nThis 8-week class (February 5th – March 26th) will dive into these mitzvot through learning and through practice: we’ll alternate “learning weeks” and “lab weeks”\, first diving into primary sources to understand how Jews have thought about these commandments throughout history and then using what we’ve learned to put some of these ideas into practice. Each week we’ll ask\, how am I already practicing this individually? How does my community enact this? What can we do to better ingrain these practices of care into the fabric of our lives? \nWhile this is an ongoing to course\, all are welcome to attend as they are able. \nCovid & Access notes to come. \n \n \nOrganization: Base Bay

SUMMARY:Trans @ Base: Relaunch!
DESCRIPTION:Home\n Base Bay\nTrans @ Base: Relaunch!\nThu\, 30 Jan 2025\n06:30 PM\nJoined\nAt long last\, we’re excited to revive Trans* at Base\, newly in partnership with Rabbi Eliana Kayelle and Keshet! This is a space to find and connect with other trans\, nonbinary\, and gender non-confirming* Basers. \nWe’ll gather monthly with rotating facilitators\, and ideas range from learning or singing together to low-key hang out time. Our meeting this January will be a chance to share ideas for what you’d like from Trans at Base and reignite this community. \nNo experience with Base necessary! \nReach out to R’ Frankie with any questions and if you have questions about whether this is the right space for you to join. \nDo you have another identity or experience that you’d like to connect around in this way? Let us know – whether R’ Frankie and Elaina hold this identity or not\, we’d love to support you finding your people! \n \n \nOrganization: Base Bay
