Share a beautiful, LGBTQ+ affirming home in Eckington, the quiet kid-sister of Bloomingdale.

The area:
A couple blocks from the metropolitan branch trail, we are walking/bike distance from NoMa, Shaw, Trader Joe's, Giant, Harris Teeter, and Union Market, and medium distance from H St. NE Corridor and U St. NW neighborhoods. The immediate area includes just a 10-15 minute walk to Alethia Tanner park, Crispus Attucks park, DC Bouldering Project, Pop’s Bagels, Gelat-Oh, Big Bear Cafe, Showtime, Boundary Stone and a handful of other restaurants and bars. There is a lovely neighborhood-favorite corner store just 2 minutes away with groceries, sandwiches, and a resident shop cat.

Transit:
16-minute walk to the NoMa-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metro stations. 5-minute walk to G8, P6, and the 80 buses. Two bike share stations a couple blocks away. Shared off-street parking available.

The space:
Small unfurnished private bedroom with closet space. Option to keep the wooden dresser. Bathroom shared with one other tidy roommate. Laundry on-site. Common spaces mostly furnished. The house has good natural light, a front and back porch + yard, garden space with mint and rosemary and room to grow, hardwood floors and granite counters, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. Basement office/studio space that is shared between housemates.

Lease information:
12-month lease. The house has been remodeled for fuel efficiency, so utilities run ($70-180/month per person, including internet); it's warm and cozy in the winter and stays cool in the summer. No pets due to allergies.

Your housemates:
We are two queer women in our mid-to-late twenties; a dancer and an outdoor enthusiast with day jobs as an environmental research analyst and a garden outreach coordinator. Ages 27 and 25. We enjoy coming together for movies, shared meals, and dance practice from time to time. Our home has been known to host the occasional tea party, bonfire, and themed gathering. One of us climbs at the nearby bouldering gym, both of us love biweekly queer line dancing, and our future roommate is welcome to join any of those activities!

Cleanliness:
We maintain a very clean, de-cluttered home and come together once a month for a roommate brunch + house deep clean. We divide general weekly cleaning tasks, and take care to “reset the room” and clean up our own messes immediately. We keep the common spaces intentional, clean, and inviting for all to enjoy.

Who you are:
You are responsible, clean and friendly. You communicate openly and are considerate of how you leave the space for other housemates. You love doing your dishes right away and never leave a dish in the sink. You find it a joy to pay your bills on time, you value a clean, decluttered home, you think open communication is a necessity, and you thrive in a quiet, chilled out space.

Application:
Please send a note with your interest, something about yourself, and your availability for an interview. We are open to in-person and virtual interviews, plus a house tour.

Please note:
While the house will come mostly furnished, we will need to get a new dining room table. Most of the furniture pictured has been replaced or rearranged.

We look forward to meeting you!
