Adat Shalom is a 400 Family Synagogue in Bethesda MD. We are looking to hire an energetic Administrative Assistant who is a self-starter, has a penchant for organizing and can see the big picture.

The Admin Assistant must be comfortable with office staff and congregants, managing projects, working with our online systems including our member database, and interacting with clergy and various committees to help our congregation operate smoothly.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, tech savvy individual who enjoys interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds and is interested in Jewish communal life. The Admin Assistant will be the first line of contact for many people.

Administrative tasks include, but are not limited to:
Prepare Synagogue for Weekly Shabbat Support/Bimah Readiness
Create and send our weekly/Monthly Newsletters through Mail Chimp – track and enhance engagement Maintain Office and Kitchen supplies and reorder
Arrange for catering for Synagogue events and programming
Answer Synagogue telephones, respond to calls and/or direct messages to other staff
Coordinate Chesed/Acts of Lovingkindness for our Community
Posts and Moderate Facebook and Instagram
Preferred Candidate Requirements/Experience
This is an entry level position, BS/BA Degree in a related field preferred but not required High proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Google Suite
Ability to learn and become proficient in our database management system. (Breeze Church Management)
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and writing skills.
Ability to act in a proactive and anticipatory manner and adapt quickly to changing priorities. Attention to detail, accuracy, and proofreading.
Collaborative worker, who enjoys working well with others on a team.

Salary & Benefits
Salary range $35-45k
Health Insurance, 85% paid by employer, through CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield

403b (non profit retirement savings) with contributions from employer after 1 full year

The person in this position will work in person at our building, 7727 Persimmon Tree Lane, Bethesda, MD 20817. While we are flexible with our hours, the ideal candidate will be available standard business hours, with limited work from home time.
