Jews United for Justice (JUFJ) is seeking an experienced, full-time Program Director to join our team.

The Program Director will develop and implement leadership development and educational programming, supervise JUFJ’s communications staff, and support organization-wide initiatives and projects. This is a new position. The ideal candidate will have exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills, the ability to balance a diverse range of responsibilities, and enjoy working in a dynamic, mission-driven institution. JUFJ’s advocacy work is led by multiple field directors. The person selected must have a demonstrable commitment to working collaboratively with other directors, who will be critical stakeholders in and beneficiaries of this position’s work and who bring deep knowledge of the needs of their offices and staff, as well as with Senior Leadership and the communications team. This is a full-time, exempt, management position that reports to the Director of Organizing and currently supervises 2 direct reports.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Programmatic:

Develop a cohesive training, education, and leadership development program to engage and develop volunteer leaders, in deep collaboration with the organizing team, and with input from other parts of the organization.
Oversee large-scale community events such as the Labor and/or Social Justice Seders

Communications:

Oversee JUFJ’s external communications work and ensure a strategic and unified voice and tone
Supervise JUFJ’s Communications Manager, Communications Associate, and any communications/rabbinic content consultants

Support organization-wide initiatives and coordination:

Implement important organizational initiatives, including:
Organization-wide (staff, Board, leaders, volunteers ) trainings
Oversee Racial Equity implementation processes in a manner consistent with the organization’s strategy, values, and commitment to equity and inclusion
Manage staff retreat planning, board-staff-leader convenings, and other organizational-wide gatherings
Prepare, staff, and implement action steps from the Senior Leadership Team and managers meetings, and assist with weekly staff meeting coordination.
Support organization-wide work to strengthen our internal collaboration and management processes and structures, as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Management Experience: A minimum of 2 years of management experience, with a preference for experience managing communications staff and/or organizational change. Experience managing a unionized staff preferred but not required.
Education and Training: Experience developing and leading workshops and educational programs on topics such as organizing skills, leadership development, and/or anti-oppression training(s). An orientation toward consistently integrating learning and reflection into your work and the work of your team.
Communications Experience: Experience crafting and/or overseeing an organization’s public voice and adapting messaging frameworks to specific constituencies.
Building Relationships: Proven success developing trusting and collaborative relationships with supervisees and supervisors, as well as others like volunteer leaders, community members and/or community partners.
Communication Skills: Strong writing, editing, listening, verbal communication, and conflict management skills. You communicate effectively and with curiosity, directness, and kindness.
Leadership Skills: A demonstrated ability to connect with, motivate, and mobilize other people, from staff up and down the org chart to volunteer leaders and community partners.
Team Player: You enjoy working with people and leading a team to achieve its goals by working to make people feel heard and empowered. You view your own work as supporting the whole, and integral to the team’s effectiveness. You build understanding around the processes you manage, and the team trusts that these processes maximize the work. Candidates should have a sense of humor, low ego, and a genuine commitment to working in a collaborative team setting.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, consult with various stakeholders, anticipate obstacles, run a tight ship, coordinate staff and internal resources, and keep a cool head while doing it.
Attention to Detail: Demonstrated commitment to meeting high standards in a fast-paced environment. A history of managing a high volume of work and getting things done without sacrificing quality, even in the face of obstacles.
Adaptable: Thrives in a fast-paced and shifting work environment where not everything fits squarely into a box.
Aligned Values: Demonstrated commitment to integrity, honesty, and positivity. Familiarity with Jewish cultural norms and navigating Jewish institutions.
