This role is through Avodah’s Jewish Service Corps. The Jewish Service Corps is a year-long program for individuals ages 21-26 to build a lifetime of leadership skills, an active Jewish community, a powerful professional network, and a more just America. Corps Members work full-time at placement organizations like First Shift Justice Project while engaging in innovative programming and living in communal, pluralistic housing. In addition to a year of professional and personal growth, Corps Members receive a monthly living stipend, health insurance, a travel allowance, and housing. Bilingual Paralegal (Spanish and English) at First Shift Justice Project: First Shift Justice Project is a nonprofit organization that helps working mothers in low wage jobs assert their workplace rights to prevent job loss. The Bilingual Paralegal will respond to client inquiries and manage client intake for First Shift legal services clients, assist clients in applying for D.C. paid leave benefits and maintain client database, support First Shift staff attorneys to serve Spanish-speaking clients, collaborate with First Shift’s Community Engagement Manager to coordinate and deliver Know Your Rights presentations and conduct outreach. Spanish fluency is required.
