Frequently cited statistics show that historical biases in hiring lead to less applications from women and underrepresented groups unless they have 100% of the qualifications. GatherDC is committed to removing bias in hiring; as such, we encourage you to break that statistic and apply. No one ever meets 100% of the qualifications! We look forward to your application.

GatherDC is a Jewish nonprofit organization that serves as the one-stop-shop for everything 20s and 30s need to live their best Jewish life in the DMV. Whether young Jewish adults come to Gather looking for Jewish events, friends, synagogues, housing, jobs, rabbis, kosher food, or anything in between—we connect them to everything they need to find their people and place in Jewish DMV. Our work strengthens the fabric of Jewish life throughout the DMV, contributing to a thriving Jewish ecosystem and helping to create one of the most dynamic and inclusive cities for millennial and Gen Z Jewish life.

The GatherDC Engagement Intern will support GatherDC’s IRL and online engagement work. As a part of our Engagement Team, you will immerse yourself in getting to know other new-to-DC Jewish interns and young professionals, support the GatherDC Engagement Team with organizing and hosting experiences, and bring your perspective and unique voice to Gather’s communications and marketing. You’ll also build your own connections and relationships in Jewish DMV, and explore all that the DMV Jewish community has to offer.

Support GatherDC’s Engagement Team and strengthen connections with other Jewish DMV interns and newcomers

  • Support the GatherDC Engagement Team in organizing and hosting various IRL GatherDC experiences, including happy hours, retreats, and more.
  • Meet 1:1 with other new-to-DMV Jewish interns and young professionals to build your own connections and strengthen GatherDC’s network.
  • Take the lead in creating and executing an experience geared toward other young Jewish DMV interns and newcomers.
  • Attend and represent GatherDC at Jewish community functions across the region.

Support GatherDC’s communications team with creative and innovative marketing and communications

  • Perform a social media audit, monitor social media trends, and brainstorm new creative content strategies to bolster GatherDC’s social media.
  • Update blog content and write blog posts about your internship experience.
  • Transcribe interviews for blog posts.
  • Ideate new ways to engage our local Jewish community through a variety of digital methods such as social media, e-newsletters, blogs, etc.

  • You are an enthusiastic relationship-builder who loves connecting with others.
  • You are a collaborative team-player who is excited to work on projects as a team.
  • You are an innovator with a positive spirit who is curious and eager to learn new things.
  • You are excited to explore the DMV Jewish community and discover everything that makes it great!

  • A $3,500 stipend, Fridays off, and a flexible hybrid work schedule
  • Two weeks off in July (ask us about our shmita break!)
  • The opportunity to shadow and train with experienced nonprofit professionals
  • Practical, on-the-ground experience with Jewish community engagement, event planning and organizing, social media campaigns, nonprofit marketing, and more

So you’ve made it to the bottom. Ready to apply!?
