Department: Davis Center for Social Justice FLSA Status: (non-exempt)

Reports To: Associate Rabbi

Employment Status: Part-time (15-20 hours per week)

Salary Range: $22-24 per hour

Position Overview

The Social Justice Coordinator will be responsible for providing administrative and communications support for the social action and social justice activities of the Davis Center. The incumbent will work closely with temple clergy, the chair and members of the Center’s steering committee and various social action initiative leaders to organize and administer programming and activities. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust social media strategy for the Center and helping to organize congregational support for a wide variety of initiatives and activities.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support for all Davis Center activities and programming
• Develop internal and external communications for the Center
• Develop and implement social media strategy
• Develop and maintain resources bank for the Center
• Help organize congregational support for Center programs and initiatives
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervision and Performance Management
Supervision Received: The Social Justice Coordinator will report to the Associate Rabbi. The Coordinator will work closely with the lead clergy member and the Chair of the Center’s Steering Committee.

Work Requirements and Conditions
• Exercises good and independent judgment in the performance of duties.
• Develop and implement social media strategies.
• Able to work flexible hours when necessary.
• Ability to work productively with an array of internal and external individuals and groups including clergy, staff, and lay leaders.
• Position is based in temple offices but the coordinator will be required to spend significant time out in the community.
• Flexibility to attend periodic evening and weekend events.
• Ability to work effectively as part of the temple’s administrative team. The coordinator will be a member of the Administrative Logistics Team convened weekly by the Executive Director.

Skills and Attributes
• Degree; BA preferred
• 2-4 Years of experience in communications and organizing.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
• Computer skills and/or competency including with familiarity with standard Microsoft software and social media platforms.
• Ability to learn software such as Quickbooks, Membership Management Services (MM2000) (synagogue membership database).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other staff, including peers and managers, and with organization members and volunteers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to help identify and recruit volunteers for Center projects.
• Ability to work in a diverse environment.
• Successful candidates will have a passion for social justice, racial justice, and economic equity issues.
• Ability to work with a variety of individuals on emerging projects and issues.
