SUMMARY:Remember & Return: Sarah\, Hannah & the Work of Becoming with the Den Collective
DESCRIPTION:On the first day of Rosh Hashanah\, we encounter two strikingly similar stories: Sarah and Hannah\, two women who move through longing and uncertainty before each is “remembered” by God and becomes a mother. Why do our tradition and our liturgy place these stories at the threshold of a new year? \nJoin Rabbi Anna Wolfe\, the Den’s Community Rabbi\, for an intimate evening of Jewish learning and conversation exploring Sarah and Hannah’s stories as a lens into the deeper work of teshuvah. Together\, we’ll consider Rosh Hashanah as a moment not only of return\, but of creation and re-creation: an invitation to nurture what is emerging within us\, release what has kept us stuck\, and imagine who we are still becoming. \nNo previous text study or Jewish learning experience is needed. Bring your questions\, your curiosity\, and whatever this season is stirring in you. \nThis gathering will take place in Northwest DC. The specific location and additional details will be shared with registrants after the registration deadline. Advance registration is required. \nSign Up by Sep 4 \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Maryland Tashlich with GatherDC
DESCRIPTION:Welcoming a new Jewish year can stir up a range of emotions – from thank goodness to oh my goodness. You might find yourself wondering: How does it feel to say goodbye to the year that came before? What does it mean to start a year afresh? What can I toss\, and what can I keep? \nTashlich (“casting off”) is\, at its core\, an act of catharsis – a Jewish ritual in which we toss pieces of bread\, pebbles\, leaves\, or sticks into a body of water to symbolically cast away regrets or disappointments from the past year. This year\, GatherDC is hosting three tashlich gatherings across DC\, Maryland\, and Virginia with our community partners – and we would love to see you there! \nYou are welcome to attend one or more Tashlich – just please register in advance so we can send you the exact location. We’ll provide everything you need for this ritual – just bring a reflective mind and open heart!

SUMMARY:Preparing to Let Go: Creative Practice for the New Year with the Den Collective
DESCRIPTION:What are you ready to stop carrying into the year ahead? \nJewish tradition gives us powerful physical rituals for the inner work of the High Holy Days: casting away through Tashlich\, immersing in the waters of the mikvah\, fasting\, and other practices that invite us to mark change not only in our minds\, but with our bodies. Drawing inspiration from these traditions\, we’ll explore what it can mean to intentionally let go. \nJoin Rabbi Anna for a creative and experiential evening of reflection\, release\, and renewal. This gathering takes place during the Aseret Yemei Teshuvah\, the Ten Days of Repentance\, a sacred stretch of time that begins with Rosh Hashanah and leads us toward Yom Kippur. These days invite us to turn inward\, take stock\, and consider what we are ready to change\, release\, and carry forward. \nThrough writing\, drawing\, personal reflection\, and small-group conversation\, we’ll consider the stories\, expectations\, habits\, and narratives we may be ready to release. We’ll close with a shared ritual moment\, giving physical expression to the inner work of making room for what comes next. \nThere is nothing you need to create perfectly\, solve\, or arrive already knowing. Come as you are\, with whatever you are ready to examine\, and perhaps whatever you are finally ready to put down. \nThis gathering will take place outdoors in Northwest DC. The specific location and additional details will be shared with participants after the registration deadline. \nSign Up by Sep 11 \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Main Morning Service with New Synagogue Project
DESCRIPTION:We enter these Days of Awe navigating terrifying storms. Yet\, we hold the power to create shelter within and among us. During the Days of Awe\, prayer and song\, laughter\, tears\, and connection strengthen our ability to live with openness\, love\, and justice. Together we renew our commitment to caring for ourselves\, one another\, and our neighbors\, and to the work of making our world a fitting dwelling place for the Divine. Join us to hold this sacred space together as we enter into the High Holidays and a new year. \nWe are honored to welcome back Batya Levine\, who will be co-leading all main services with Rabbi Yosef. ALL are welcome\, regardless of NSP membership status or ability to pay\, and we hope you will be able to join us\, in person or online. Advance registration is required and registration will close on August 21. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue;ASL Interpretation;Captioning \n \nOrganization: The New Synagogue Project \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is
