SUMMARY:Beyond a Single Story: An Interfaith Evening of Sharing with Abrahamic House
DESCRIPTION:very faith and culture holds countless stories\, yet too often\, only one is told. Join us for an evening inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s “The Danger of a Single Story” as we reflect on how stories shape our perceptions of one another. \nWe’ll come together to share personal or faith-based stories that are often unheard or misrepresented\, and explore how storytelling can be an act of courage\, compassion\, and bridge-building. \n🕯️ Bring a story\, your perspective\, and your willingness to listen deeply. \nLight refreshments will be served. \nSaturday\, Nov 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. \nLocation will be provided via email within 24-hours of the event. \nAt Abrahamic House\, we believe access is a practice\, and it’s something we’d like to practice along with all of you. \nMobility Accommodations: Abrahamic House does not have a wheelchair accessible entrance. That said\, we are willing to be creative about how to get folks into the space\, including carrying folks and their medical device(s) into the house or arranging for an alternate venue. If you have mobility needs\, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly\, and we will coordinate with you. \nReligious Accommodations: For all of our events\, we will have a space set up for our community members to pray\, if they so choose. If you do not immediately see it\, please don’t hesitate to ask a fellow where the prayer space is located. \nAlcohol Policy: All alcohol at our events is optional\, and we will have several events throughout the year that are alcohol free. Please pay close attention to the registration form to see if alcohol will be served at a particular event. We know there are more accommodations than we could possibly list here. If we have not included something\, it does not mean it is impossible to provide. We want to welcome you into our space\, so please feel free to write down anything that might be necessary for you to participate\, and we will see what we can do. \n \nAccommodations: Other \nOther Accommodations – See event description. \nOrganization: Abrahamic House \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Echoes and Inheritance: Learning from the Past\, Shaping the Future with the Den
DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbi Aderet for a reflective and engaging class exploring how behaviors\, values\, and traditions flow from one generation to the next. Using the stories of the patriarchs and matriarchs\, we’ll examine both the blessings and the challenges that shape family dynamics—from favoritism and miscommunication to acts of care and love. Together\, we’ll uncover what we inherit\, what we choose to pass on\, and how mindful awareness can help us break unhelpful patterns while strengthening the legacy of hope\, connection\, and meaning for future generations. \nNo prior experience needed. We’ll gather in a central location to those registered. Address will be shared with registrants. Everyone welcome. \n \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Listening and Building Allies w/ People We Strongly Disagree With with Am Kolel
DESCRIPTION:There is so much divisiveness in the current period. Many people only talk to or interact with the people who already agree with them. This makes it extremely difficult to learn new ideas\, have challenging conversations\, or be positively impacted by other people’s thinking. \nIn this workshop\, we will demonstrate tools for listening to people we disagree with and identifying why it’s so hard for us to listen to certain people or ideas. We will have a chance to identify and learn practices for healing the emotions that can get in the way of our listening. We will learn specific skills for drawing people out when we disagree with them\, and then\, deciding when and how to offer our own best thinking.\n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nCherie Brown is the founder and CEO of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI). For 41 years\, NCBI has been a national leader in offering training programs to K- 12 schools and college campuses on bridge building\, coalition building skills. For the past several years\, Cherie has offered this workshop at the U.N. in NYC during climate week. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Am Kolel \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is

SUMMARY:Bridges Beyond Borders: Peace Builders on the Ground with Pozez JCC
DESCRIPTION:Join the Pozez JCC for a unique encounter with the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies – a space where young Israelis\, Palestinians\, Jordanians\, and international students come together to learn\, live\, and build a shared future. \nThrough education\, research\, and daily life in the community\, the Arava Institute empowers students to develop the skills\, friendships\, and understanding needed to lead the region toward a more sustainable and peaceful future. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll meet Arielle Ben-Hur and Jawdat Kassab\, two Arava alumni – an Israeli and a Palestinian – who will share their personal journeys of building trust\, partnership\, and hope\, and their choice to join the Institute despite the complex reality that surrounds them. \nTogether\, we’ll move into small discussion groups to reflect\, ask questions\, and explore both the challenges and the possibilities that arise when people dare to connect beyond borders. \nWe’ll close with shared insights and inspiration – taking with us new perspectives on what peace-building can look like\, here and now. \nThis program is free. DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbi Miriam on Wednesday\, November 12 (7PM – 8:30PM) on Zoom for Queering Our Mother Rebekah. Rebekah doesn’t fit into the traditional gender roles of women in the Bible.
