SUMMARY:Exploring Eicha Through Text and Art with Hadar DC
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, we will explore the power and poetry of the Book of Lamentations (Eicha) and its interpretive traditions. First\, we’ll spend time digging into the texts\, midrash and poetry of Eicha as we explore themes of loss\, memory\, and hope. Then\, we’ll have a chance to create art in response\, weaving together different modes of learning\, processing and expression. Absolutely no art experience necessary. Art is just another tool to get into the text more deeply. \nThis Art Beit Midrash is presented in partnership with Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School. \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: Hadar DC \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Art Under a Full Moon: Celebrating Tu B’Av with the Den Collective
DESCRIPTION:Tu B’Av\, the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Av\, is often known as the Jewish day of love. Ancient Jewish tradition describes people gathering in borrowed white garments and dancing in the vineyards\, celebrating connection\, possibility\, and joy. \nJoin us for an evening of learning\, creativity\, and reflection as we explore the history\, traditions\, and deeper meanings of Tu B’Av through Jewish text study and conversation. Together\, we’ll consider themes of love\, connection\, hope\, and renewal\, as well as the tradition of increasing Torah study during this season as the nights begin to lengthen. \nFollowing our learning\, we’ll engage in an art-making experience using the Jewish Studio Process\, a creative practice that emphasizes curiosity\, reflection\, and the process of creating rather than the finished product itself. Whether you’re an experienced artist or haven’t picked up a paintbrush in years\, this is an opportunity to explore\, create\, and connect in a supportive community setting. \nCome learn\, create\, and bask in the beautiful light of this special full moon. \nNo experience necessary. Everyone is welcome. This gathering will take place in Northwest DC. Specific location and additional details will be shared with registrants after the registration deadline. \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not
