SUMMARY:DC New Moon Circle: Shvat with At the Well
DESCRIPTION:Jewish tradition holds the world’s best-kept wellness secrets—these ancient practices support our wholeness individually and in community. Please join in this collaborative experience as At The Well and the Wellness Center @ Adas partner to explore the wisdom of the lunar calendar through the sacred technology of Rosh Chodesh. The Hebrew Calendar invites each of us into cyclical time\, present-moment awareness\, embodiment\, and collective care. \nTuesday\, January 20 @6:45pm–SHVAT\nWith At The Well\nIn Shvat we find rejuvenation through our connection to the natural world – just like the trees we celebrate on Tu B’Shvat (full moon)\, we continue to grow and renew even through the harshness of winter. We will be awakening from our hibernation and planting seeds for the spring to come\, each setting intentions for freedom. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: At The Well \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

Whether you join us to learn\, to laugh\, to taste\, or to give back\, we invite all across the greater D.C. region to roll up your sleeves and dough something delightful as part of this joyful community experience. SUMMARY:MLK Day of Service: Uplifting Incarcerated Voices with Free Minds and the EDCJCC
DESCRIPTION:Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King by spending your day learning and serving. Free Minds supports incarcerated and formerly incarcerated adults in the DC Jail\, juvenile detention centers\, the federal prison system\, and reentry programs through classes and workshops focused on literary arts and social-emotional learning. Since its founding\, Free Minds has provided long-term\, ongoing support to over 1\,500 youth and adults. \nVolunteers will hear from Free Minds graduates about their experiences participating in the Free Minds program\, then have the opportunity to read poetry written by current students and provide positive feedback through notes and drawings. While this may seem like a small gesture\, many members share that receiving such encouragement reminds them that people in the community care and gives them strength to persevere. Accessibility: Participants will be seated for the majority of this program. \nAnyone over the age of 11 is welcome to participate – no poetry background necessary! Teens who participate will receive 1.5 SSL hours. \nThis program is free but registration is required to participate. \nIf you have any questions please reach out to Lyssa at ajellenik@edcjcc.org. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Edlavitch DCJCC \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:MLK Day of Service with Adas Israel Congregation
DESCRIPTION:Be part of another amazing Day of Service at Adas Israel! For four inspiring hours\, we’ll transform our building into a hub of compassion\, creativity\, and action. Choose one project or sample several; every hand makes a difference. \nMosaic joins Adas Israel’s annual Day of Service to lead community members in gathering stories around what it means to make good trouble. So many of us have a John Lewis story — a connection to the congressman\, a moment of being inspired by a justice movement\, a narrative about a time you felt the call to make some good trouble. Mosaic will facilitate a narrative collecting throughout the Day of Service\, gathering stories centering justice from throughout the community. Come ready to share\, listen\, and connect around good trouble making. \n \n \nOrganization: Adas Israel Congregation \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Jewish Drunk History with Moishe House Bethesda
DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an epic\, hilarious night of Jewish Drunk History. Here’s how it works: before you come\, prepare one true story from Jewish history—it can be something you already know or something you quickly research. We recommend stories that are funny\, strange\, or a little absurd\, but any real story is fair game as long as it involves Judaism or Jewish people. Then come to our house\, where we’ll have snacks and plenty of drinks. We’ll all get progressively drunk and take turns presenting our stories to the group. Accuracy may decline as the night goes on\, but the laughs definitely won’t. \n \n \nOrganization: Moishe House Bethesda \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Eilu v'Eilu: An Open Reflection Project with Am Kolel
DESCRIPTION:This gentle\, conversation-based program creates space for us to explore some of the most meaningful\, complicated\, and personal aspects of Jewish life. \nMany of the topics we’ll be discussing—God\, prayer\, Israel\, identity\, mortality\, and more—can be challenging to talk about\, even with people we know well. Eilu v’Eilu offers a warm\, guided space to dive deeply into our own thoughts and beliefs\, to practice articulating ideas that may feel tender or evolving\, and to listen generously to the experiences of others. \nEach session stands on its own\, and you’re warmly invited to join for as many—or as few—as you’d like. \nThese Thursday-evening Zoom gatherings (7:00–8:30 pm) are designed for curiosity\, honesty\, and genuine connection. There are no “right answers” to arrive at—just opportunities to reflect\, ask\, listen\, and share. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Am Kolel \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is
