SUMMARY:First Session of Giving Back Circle with the EDCJCC
DESCRIPTION:Join the EDCJCC’s inaugural Giving Back Circle—a giving circle with a twist! Instead of focusing on financial contributions\, this program centers on giving your time through volunteer work and community building. \nLed by volunteer leaders\, the group will select projects that align with the issues they care about most\, creating a meaningful way to give back to the DC community. Together\, the group will choose projects and set a schedule\, with activities taking place on weeknights or weekends. The cohort will meet once a month for six months\, and participants are asked to attend at least 4 of the 6 sessions. \nThis program is open to adults ages 25–40 from any Jewish background. Registration is $25 per person; if cost is a barrier or if you have any additional questions\, please email Mira at msmith@edcjcc.org. During the program\, participants will also have opportunities to donate items or funds to specific projects. \n \n \nOrganization: Edlavitch DCJCC \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Book Talk And Brunch with Rebecca Erbelding with Bet Mishpachah
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, April 19th\, Yom HaShoah\, for a bagel brunch and book talk with historian Rebecca Erbelding. Author of Rescue Board: The Untold Story of America’s Efforts to Save the Jews of Europe (Doubleday\, 2018)\, Erbelding studies American responses to the Holocaust\, and her work has been featured in film\, print\, and theater. Rescue Board is an incredibly relevant book to the Jewish people of DC in this moment\, as it tells the story of heroism by US officials risking their lives and careers as they “begged\, borrowed\, bribed\, laundered money\, falsified documents\, opened a refugee camp\, and threw the weight of the United States government behind their plans\, ultimately saving tens of thousands of lives.” \nJoin us for brunch at 11am\, with book talk at 12pm. \nMembers: Free \nNon Members: $18. Please register here\, and use this link to pay: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/SNC7K2W72BMNE \nThis event is part of the Alan Armus Memorial Series at Bet Mishpachah\, DC’s only egalitarian synagogue serving LGBTQ+ Jews and their allies since 1975. \n \n \nOrganization: Bet Mishpachah \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not
