SUMMARY:RAZA - Shabbat Shirah Prayer Concert with Adas Israel Congregation
DESCRIPTION:RAZA is a musical listening project that explores the feminine voice in old Hasidic melodies. Meaning “secret” or “hidden” in Aramaic\, RAZA is an attempt to listen more deeply to sacred\, traditional melodies\, to ask a question of them\, and open up to hear them whisper something new into the world. RAZA explores both the notes and the wisdom surrounding these rich\, complex\, and uplifting melodies\, as passed down for centuries. \n \n \nOrganization: Adas Israel Congregation \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Governor Josh Shapiro with Sixth & I
DESCRIPTION:From an early age\, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro learned the power of showing up\, listening\, and executing to make people’s lives a little better from seeing his parents serve others—his father in the Navy and as the local pediatrician\, and his mother as an educator. \nIn Where We Keep the Light: Stories from a Life of Service\, he shares an intimate account of his family life\, public service\, and personal faith. Reflecting on what he’s learned along the way from knocking on doors\, serving his community\, and tackling the tough issues we face\, Josh Shapiro reminds us that government can be a force for good—and there’s more that unites Americans than divides us. \nGov. Shapiro previously served as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General\, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners\, and State Representative.\nCost Range: 12 – 47 \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Sixth & I \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is

SUMMARY:Eilu v'Eilu: An Open Reflection Project with Am Kolel
DESCRIPTION:This gentle\, conversation-based program creates space for us to explore some of the most meaningful\, complicated\, and personal aspects of Jewish life. \nMany of the topics we’ll be discussing—God\, prayer\, Israel\, identity\, mortality\, and more—can be challenging to talk about\, even with people we know well. Eilu v’Eilu offers a warm\, guided space to dive deeply into our own thoughts and beliefs\, to practice articulating ideas that may feel tender or evolving\, and to listen generously to the experiences of others. \nEach session stands on its own\, and you’re warmly invited to join for as many—or as few—as you’d like. \nThese Thursday-evening Zoom gatherings (7:00–8:30 pm) are designed for curiosity\, honesty\, and genuine connection. There are no “right answers” to arrive at—just opportunities to reflect\, ask\, listen\, and share. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Am Kolel \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is

SUMMARY:Staging Change: Race\, Justice\, and Judaism with Sixth & I
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, Ford’s Theatre commissioned and staged the world premiere of “The American Five\,” written by Sixth & I’er Chess Jakobs\, which was named the #1 show in the region. The play brings to life the relationship between Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. and four of his closest confidants in the days leading up to the March on Washington\, wrestling with questions of race\, power\, faith\, identity\, and solidarity\, including the often-overlooked stories of a Jewish member (Stanley Levison) and a queer member (Bayard Rustin) of Dr. King’s inner circle\, as well as Coretta Scott King and Clarence B. Jones. \nIn this two part class\, co-led by Chess Jakobs and Rabbi Jenna\, experience live scenes from “The American Five\,” performed by actors\, and place them in conversation with Jewish wisdom\, text\, and tradition. Come to one class or both. \nJanuary 27 Class\nTikkun olam\, the Jewish call to repair the world\, takes center stage in this text study and discussion. Where does this imperative actually come from? What does it demand of us in practice? And how can this powerful idea be both meaningful and\, at times\, misunderstood or misused? \nFebruary 17 Class\nExperience a scene from the play that delves into race\, whiteness\, and Jewish identity\, opening space for honest reflection and nuanced conversation.\nCost Range: 18 – 34 \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Sixth & I \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not
