SUMMARY:Shabbat Chazon: Visions for Our Future with the Den Collective
DESCRIPTION:As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary and we prepare for Shabbat Chazon\, the “Shabbat of Vision” that precedes Tisha B’Av\, we are invited to reflect on the world around us and the future we hope to help create. \nJoin us for an afternoon of learning\, conversation\, and reflection as we explore the complexities of Jewish life in America today. Together\, we’ll engage with Jewish texts\, prayers\, and traditions that speak to questions of citizenship\, responsibility\, patriotism\, and moral vision. \nDrawing inspiration from the words of the prophet Isaiah\, who calls us to “cease to do evil and learn to do good\,” we’ll consider what it means to hold hope\, responsibility\, and possibility at a moment of both challenge and opportunity. We’ll also create space to share our own visions for the future and reflect on the values we hope will guide us forward. \nWhether you’re interested in Jewish thought\, civic engagement\, contemporary issues\, or simply meaningful conversation in community\, we invite you to join us. \nNo experience necessary. Everyone is welcome. This gathering will take place in DC. Specific location and additional details will be shared with registrants after the registration deadline. \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Wine\, Jazz & Poetry: A Tu B’Av Celebration of Love with Pozez JCC of Northern VA
DESCRIPTION:Wine\, Jazz & Poetry: A Tu B’Av Celebration of Love\nTuesday\, July 28 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm\nThis mid-summer night\, we invite singles\, couples\, and friends alike to join us for a relaxed\, romantic evening filled with fine wine\, light appetizers\, soulful music\, and meaningful connection. \nWhat is love? And how has the Jewish tradition shaped our understanding of it over the centuries? \nFor thousands of years\, Jewish poets\, musicians\, and mystics have grappled with these questions. Tonight\, we join that timeless conversation. \nThe Evening’s Elements: \nWine – Wine and love have always gone hand-in-hand in Jewish tradition—from the passionate verses of the Song of Songs and the Golden Age of Spain to modern Israeli poetry. We’ll keep the conversation flowing with a selection of kosher wines. \nJazz – It is hard to imagine a warm\, slow summer night without the sultry sounds of jazz. Our musical journey will explore beautiful\, romantic expressions of love from some of the greatest masters of the genre\, including George Gershwin\, Irving Berlin\, Jerome Kern\, Jerry Bock\, Richard Rodgers\, and Cole Porter. \nMusical Guides:\nVladimir Fridman – Guitar & Vocals\nBob Abbott – Contrabass\nChristine Kharazian – Violin \nPoetry & Discussion – From the first moments in the Garden of Eden to the modern verses of Yehuda Amichai\, we will travel through time to read and discuss a broad\, eclectic curation of Jewish love texts—both classical and contemporary. \nYou – Bring an open heart and a desire to unwind. Come ready to relax\, enjoy great music\, and connect with a community of peers as we discover the many dimensions of love this Tu B’Av. \nAdmission: $25 JCC Members / $30 Non-members\nCost Range: $25 – $30 \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not
