SUMMARY:Tisha B’Av Maariv at Museum of the Palestinian People with Mozart Minyan
DESCRIPTION:We’ll daven Maariv using a low-key\, less-musical mode (BYO siddur – or use your phone)\, and then read Eicha. Eicha is typically read from a regular Tanakh rather than a scroll – you are encouraged to bring your own Tanakh\, or you can follow along on your phone. After Eicha\, we will recite selected Kinnot and works by Palestinian poets\, paralleling the destruction wrought by ancient empires with that of current empires\, and participating in the traditional practice of mourning many tragedies all on Tisha B’Av. We’ll have printed copies of these. \nMozart Minyan is generously being hosted by the Museum of the Palestinian People for Tisha B’Av this year. We highly encourage all participants who have the financial means to make a contribution to MPP at https://mpp-dc.org/donate/\nMinimum Suggested amt: $ \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: Mozart Minyan \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Shabbat Celebrating Pride Month with Temple Rodef Shalom
DESCRIPTION:At the heart of Temple Rodef Shalom is our Shabbat service: a sacred pause at the end of the week when we come together as a community that cares for one another. In moments of joy\, sorrow\, and the rhythms of everyday life\, we seek to create a meaningful spiritual encounter with self\, community\, and God. Reflecting the diversity of our congregation\, our prayer life embraces a wide range of experiences and expressions\, celebrating Shabbat through song\, prayer\, learning\, music\, and reflection. Led by our dynamic clergy team\, our services sit at the intersection of tradition and modernity\, offering spiritually and intellectually uplifting experiences where each person can find connection\, belonging\, and meaning. \nThis Shabbat\, we gather in a special spirit of celebration as we honor the diversity\, dignity\, and sacred worth of every individual in our community. Grounded in the Jewish value of b’tzelem Elohim\, the belief that every person is created in the image of God\, we proudly affirm and celebrate our LGBTQ+ members\, friends\, and loved ones. Together\, through prayer\, music\, and reflection\, we lift up the values of inclusion\, belonging\, justice\, and joy that are at the heart of both Judaism and Pride. We invite you to join us as we embrace the beauty of our community and the holiness of being exactly who we are. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Temple Rodef Shalom \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Shavuot Festival Service and Yizkor with Washington Hebrew Congregation
DESCRIPTION:Our religion provides us with many opportunities to remember and honor those who are no longer with us. Traditionally\, those who have lost a dear loved one recite Kaddish every day for one year after the passing of a spouse\, child\, parent\, or sibling. We not only recite Yizkor prayers on Yom Kippur\, the Day of Repentance\, we also have an opportunity to recite Yizkor during the major festivals of Sukkot\, Passover\, and Shavuot. If you have experienced the loss of a loved one this year\, we hope you will join us and find comfort at these additional services where your loved ones’ names will be read\, and you will have a chance with your community to simply\, humbly remember. This service will also be available via our livestream. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Washington Hebrew Congregation \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is

SUMMARY:Erev Shavuot Service with Dairy Oneg with Temple Micah
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, May 21 for a dairy oneg featuring cheesecake bites at 6 p.m.\, followed by our Erev Shavuot service at 6:30 p.m. \nOn Erev Shavuot\, we mark the end of the 49-day Omer count\, and the revelation of the Torah at Mount Sinai. The service includes the ritual reading of the Ten Commandments\, the singing of Hallel\, and reflections from our rabbis. Yizkor will be read. \nThis year especially\, we are drawn to give extra voice to the traditional reading for Shavuot: the Book of Ruth. Ruth is the righteous immigrant and paradigmatic convert\, the outsider who becomes central to the Jewish story. In a time when immigrants are too often met with suspicion rather than welcome\, Ruth’s story asks us to consider what it means to open a community to the stranger. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Temple Micah \n \nLivestream or Virtual: Yes\, it is
