SUMMARY:Preparing to Let Go: Creative Practice for the New Year with the Den Collective
DESCRIPTION:What are you ready to stop carrying into the year ahead? \nJewish tradition gives us powerful physical rituals for the inner work of the High Holy Days: casting away through Tashlich\, immersing in the waters of the mikvah\, fasting\, and other practices that invite us to mark change not only in our minds\, but with our bodies. Drawing inspiration from these traditions\, we’ll explore what it can mean to intentionally let go. \nJoin Rabbi Anna for a creative and experiential evening of reflection\, release\, and renewal. This gathering takes place during the Aseret Yemei Teshuvah\, the Ten Days of Repentance\, a sacred stretch of time that begins with Rosh Hashanah and leads us toward Yom Kippur. These days invite us to turn inward\, take stock\, and consider what we are ready to change\, release\, and carry forward. \nThrough writing\, drawing\, personal reflection\, and small-group conversation\, we’ll consider the stories\, expectations\, habits\, and narratives we may be ready to release. We’ll close with a shared ritual moment\, giving physical expression to the inner work of making room for what comes next. \nThere is nothing you need to create perfectly\, solve\, or arrive already knowing. Come as you are\, with whatever you are ready to examine\, and perhaps whatever you are finally ready to put down. \nThis gathering will take place outdoors in Northwest DC. The specific location and additional details will be shared with participants after the registration deadline. \nSign Up by Sep 11 \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Honest to Goodness: A Teshuvah Workshop with Sixth & I
DESCRIPTION:Let’s be real: meaningful\, lasting change requires honest acknowledgment\, not self-punishment. With guest Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block\, explore the ancient practice of teshuva (return) as a framework for the kind of self-reckoning that actually sticks. \nDrawing on the Jewish ethical practice Mussar\, Chassidic wisdom\, and the surprising story of Yehuda\, you’ll be guided through reflection\, visioning\, and concrete intention-setting across four dimensions of our lives: our relationships\, our bodies\, our spiritual lives\, and our relationship to the planet. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue \n \nOrganization: Sixth & I \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Kayaking Tashlich on the Potomac River with the Den Collective
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the Potomac River for one of our most meaningful annual traditions of the High Holy Day season. \nDuring the Ten Days of Repentance between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur\, Jewish communities around the world observe Tashlich\, the ritual of symbolically casting away what no longer serves us as we begin the New Year. Together\, we’ll paddle out on the Potomac\, where the Den rabbis will guide us through this powerful ritual of reflection\, release\, and renewal. \nAfterward\, you’re invited to linger by the river\, enjoy the scenery\, and share lunch with fellow Den Members as we continue the conversation on shore. \nThis gathering will take place in Northwest DC. Kayak booking information and the meeting location will be shared with registrants after the registration deadline. \nPlease note: In accordance with the Den’s security policy\, only those who register by Wednesday\, September 16 will receive kayak booking information and be able to participate in this gathering. Location details will be shared closer to the event date. Thank you for your understanding. \nSign Up by Sep 16 \n \nAccommodations: None \n \nOrganization: The Den Collective \n \nLivestream or Virtual: No\, it’s not

SUMMARY:Yom Kippur Intentional Lunch Meetup with GatherDC
DESCRIPTION:There are many different ways to observe Yom Kippur\, and for some people\, fasting is not possible or not the right choice. If that’s true for you\, we invite you to join us for a gentle lunchtime meetup with others who are also not fasting.\nTogether\, we’ll share space and dive into learning about Yom Kippur as we honor what it means to care for our bodies and selves on this sacred day. \nPlease note: Food and drinks will not be provided\, as everyone’s nutritional needs are different. We encourage you to bring whatever food and drink will best sustain you. There will also be no expectation to share why you are not fasting – your presence is enough. \n \nAccommodations: ADA Accessible Venue
